Most people assume that the electricity for your car comes from the battery. However, the battery just gives your car a little jolt when it starts up and provides a small flow if the engine is off but you want to run the radio or air conditioning. Most of the electricity comes from the alternator. It’s a large device that takes some of the mechanical energy from the engine and uses a small turbine to convert it into electric power. This lets you run the radio, navigation, infotainment, and everything else, and it also charges up the battery while the engine is running.
